Egremont russet is a classic English russet apple from the victorian era. It is a russet skinned with dry flesh, and has a harmony of flavour and texture, and good balance between sweetness and sharpness. Medium sized apple, described as 'nutty'. Group 3.

GALA MONDIAL

Gala is a cross between Kidd's Orange Red and Golden Delicious. A light coloured 'Cox' mainly orange streaks over yellow, mature apples are much darker, often strong red. Reliable, sweet easy-eating apply, punchy sweet when straight from the tree, easily grown. Good for keeping.

Popular English early apple, acidic rather than sweet, with hint of strawberry. Fresh yellow-green with dark red patches where sun has caught it. Good for the garden, easy to grow, excellent juicer. Use Aug-Sept. Group 3.

Old English early variety, with strawberry flavour which improves if the apple is left on the tree as long as possible. Apples in season a few weeks after Discovery. Firm juicy delicious flesh, reliable yeilds of orange-red apples. Group 3.

Cox's Orange Pippin

Classic English variety, ofen regarded as the finest of all dessert apples.An apple for the connoisseur who can delight in a range of subtle flavours- pear,melon,freshly squeezed orange juice,and mango are all evident in a good example. Not particularly easy to grow, needing a cool maritime climate. Best eaten before Christmas if stored. Self-fertile.
KATY . M106

Katy is an attractive medium sized apple, usually bright red over light green/yellow background. The flesh is pale cream, and on softer side of crunchy. Fairly mild flavour, with a hint of strawberry make this an excellent apple for children. Good for juicing. Katy is an easy going early season apple, lots of blossom over a long period make this a good pollinator. Group 2.

Conic shape, attrative fully red fruit with calyx end shoulder bumps. Larger, mostly 3" diameter. Good flavour, crisp flesh, sweet with acidity. High in vitamin C and an excellent pollinator.Tarter flavour than Delicious. Dessert/Cook. Nov-March. Group 4.

A heavy cropping culinary apple with large yellow-green fruit. Excellent baking and needs very little sugar adding. Partly self-fertile. Will tolerate partial shade but prefers full sun. Suitable for colder areas. Season of use Sept-Nov. The only culinary apple to recieve Award of Garden Merit for its blossom.

Introduced 1832 South West England. A really interesting apple and truly beautiful. New leaf is red and flowers are delicate shade of purple/red. The apples are red (suprise !) and the flesh is stained pink. Suitable for eating, cooking or juicing. Excellent attractor for bees and insects due to high nectar flowers. Pink Sept- stores until Oct. Group 2.
